French Throwdown – Powered by Reebok, Scores Tracked by WODcast

18 Mar

Bonjour!

We proud and honored to announce that we will be supporting the score tracking for The French Throwdown in Paris, France. This is our second stop in France, the first one being Crossfit Montpellier’s Kip My Cup which was truly an amazing experience. It opened up new doors for us in the beautiful country of France to this new opportunity with Reebok Crossift Louvre.

While we’ve worked with some of the top brands in the Crossfit world, from SICfit to LifeasRx, we’re now working with Reebok to ensure the scores for the event are  efficiently tracked and scored and showcased on our leaderboards for the world to see.

We’re also proud to be partnering again with our good friends from Active to support online registration which makes integrates the registrants with our leaderboard and scoring system. This means when athletes register, everyone will be placed into WODcast automatically. This will be a new service that will be added to WODcast moving forward to support Crossfit open style online competitions.

We are expecting this to be one of our biggest events yet, and are excited to see the competition take off. The first part will be an online competition similar to the Crossfit open where all are invited to participate and strive for an invite to the physical competition in the next month.

Check out The French Throwdown Teaser video below:

Registration is still open and already hundreds of athletes have signed up:

To Paris and beyond, we want to provide the best way for affiliates around the world to not only track scores for their event, but also in a sense, motivate athletes to become the best they can possibly be!

First Event For The Year – Frostbite 2013

26 Jan

Happy New Year! Gutes Neues Jahr! Bonne Année! to everyone out there and hope that things are off to a great start.  We have been pretty crazy over the break working in new features that will help make event tracking even better!  Some of these features are displaying Crossfit Affiliations and WOD Descriptions on the Leaderboard, Athlete Registration integration with Active Network and a host of new score types that add additional flexibility to support these awesome competitions.

Well, lets get back on track as the title of this post is about Frostbite 2013 and getting frost bitten.  Our good friend Vadim over at Crossfit LIC  does it once again with an event that pushes all the competitors to the limit by completing the WODs outdoors.  That day was particularly excruciating as the temperature was in the low 30s and wind speeds were ridiculously high…..To put this into perspective, we needed to weigh down our 70lb display panel as it was nearly pushed off a few times.  But to that end, this event is one-of-a-kind as the athletes worked pushed their bodies to the limit against the full wrath of the raw natural elements.

The first 2 WODs took place outdoors while the Final WOD took place at their newer and larger space in LIC!  Its about 4 times bigger than their first place and its a great setup that caters to all levels of athletes including a play area for small children.  Speaking of children, Vadim is expecting another child soon so, congrats and best wishes to him and his family. :)

Congratulations to the winners of 2013 Frostbite: Aurelia Morales, Morgan Newman, Lauren Ernst, Jason Lucking, Scott Neal, Edward Mackel, Cameron Barden, Ryan McCarthy, Rachel Roth, Robert Gorvetzian, Matthew Winkler, Tim Leonardo.

Misfit Toys Throwdown 2012 – Second Annual Charity Event

12 Dec

This event on Dec 8 holds a very special meaning for the WODcast crew.  It was exactly 1 year ago that we worked with Marc Lamberty @ Yankee Crossfit and Andrew Romeo @ Crossfit Revelations in CT for the first Misfit Toys Throwdown.  At the time this was our second event and little did we know a year later would have over 40 events from Hawaii, to Canada, to Europe, to Australia and all across the continental US.  For that we are very much thankful to Marc, Andrew and every gym owner we worked with who believed in what we do and found value in our product.

This year we are working with them again to help get even more toys out to the kids.  Crossfit Revelations where the event was held doubled in size as they expanded into another unit in their building.  The event doubled in size from 100 athletes to 200 athletes and best of all the toys collected exceeded 500 for this year.  So the biggest beneficiaries are definitely the children :)

The event was able to draw athletes from surrounding gyms like Crossfit Triton, Crossfit Ironwill and even as far as Crossfit Westchester (special thanks to Meg Powers for wearing our WODcast Shirt during the competition :) ).  All this is not possible without the dedication of all the awesome athletes that competed!

When we reflect on everything that has happened this past year.  Seeing the growth of Crossfit, growth of all of our partner gyms we worked around the world and finally ourselves; we are just very thankful for playing a role in all of this.

Happy Holidays!  Happy New Year! And the very best of luck for next year!
